Running Mac Apps on Windows 10

It is common for users to come across some exciting software but later realize that it is only available for Mac. Although Windows offers a wide range of software, instances of something like this happening are rare. But there are times when certain apps on the macOS beat its Windows equivalents. Therefore, to have the best of both worlds, there are a few ways to run Mac apps on Windows 10.

  • Create a macOS Virtual Machine: The most straightforward way of running macOS apps on windows 10 is by creating a virtual machine. But at the same time, it is quite a lengthy process. Once your macOS virtual machine is set up, we can continue with the setup.
  • Log into your Apple Account: From this point, downloading apps is like the macOS experience. You can log into your Apple account to download apps from the App Store and continue using them. Downloading your First macOS App: After signing into your Apple account, you need to run the App Store. From there, you can install any mac software you want on your device. Open the App Store from the Dock at the bottom of the screen. Then you can browse through the various apps. To download, hit get and then install. After the installation process is complete, select open, and then you are good to go.
  • Save your VM session: Since you will be working on a virtual hard disk, saving your virtual machine session will be straightforward. Any changes made on the virtual machine are committed to the virtual hard disk, thus allowing you to continue using those applications in your windows environment. The most efficient way to shut down the macOS virtual machine is from the macOS itself. Both VirtualBox and VMware come with an option to power down on command. But if the physical device faces a sudden shutdown, the virtual machine’s drive might get corrupted.

VirtualBox comes with an option to take a snapshot. This allows users to save the current state of the Virtual Machine. Thus, creating a string of pictures while using Apply apps or the macOS on your virtual machine is recommended. Snapshots are crucial if you are about to try something that might po10tially damage the virtual machine.

The free version of VMware does not offer the same functionality. It would help if you also remembered that the virtual machine does not have the same processing power as your device as it shares the host device’s resources. It is not common to have a mighty host device. Therefore, apps will be slower than being run on a dedicated mac.

Another alternative can be running apps on the MacinCloud. The cloud base environment promotes macOS developments and la10cy between the system and server apart from the massive cloud environment subscription cost. This is not the best option but works for those with machines too old to support a virtual machine being run on it.
