New Microsoft Teams Features to Try

With the pandemic setting in, there has been significant growth in the popularity of video conferencing applications. We have witnessed quite a strong growth in popularity of productivity applications. In the past year, Microsoft Teams has gathered a massive user base because of its ability to provide a seamless user experience while promoting productivity among peers. Microsoft has introduced various new features to keep up with the industry standards, including new search and meeting options. Let’s take a deeper look at the new additions to the application and how we can use them to keep our productive sides at the maximum.

  • Creating Tasks from Messages – Teams have now simplified creating new tasks based on the assignments you get. This can be done without having to leave the application. First, add a new task by clicking on the “More” icon present in the message. Move on to “More Actions” and select “Create A Task” to add the remaining details. Once the task is created, it would be visible on the Task app.
  • Having Upto 7 Users in the Spotlight – It makes sense that online events can have more than one speaker. Therefore having all members be in the spotlight throughout the meeting or events is quite crucial. The new Microsoft Teams allows you to have up to seven people sharing the spotlight, thus giving an equal share of the screen time to all participants. You can add participants by going to the “Add Spotlight” option.
  • Have Control Over Attendees Camera – One of the critical problems faced during online meetings is having too many speakers or cameras which tends to become a distraction. You can now disable the mics and cameras of participants, thus allowing only the necessary ones to remain enabled. Schedule Meetings Automatically – Working remotely has compelled people to spend a significant amount of time scheduling meetings. With the new Scheduler launched as a part of the Microsoft 365 service, you can now automate your meeting scheduling. This can be performed by adding Cortana to your mail and scheduling meetings as per the availability.
  • Finding Information through Graph Connectors – The new graph connectors released by Microsoft can get information from various sources, including Salesforce, ServiceNow, Azure SQL, MediaWiki, and the list goes on. You can access all this information while working on applications such as SharePoint or Office. The Graph Connectors can also be added to the Search and Intelligence Admin Center, making it easier for the users to avail the information.

We all can unanimously agree that the new Microsoft Teams will be a game-changer for the video conferencing applications with the new upgrades. The new additions put Teams at a somewhat advantage over its competitors Google’s Meet, Skype, and Zoom, who have also dominated this space for a while now. The new upgrades have left tech enthusiasts wondering what else can we expect from Microsoft in the future. With the new features, one can use Teams to maximize their productivity to the fullest.
