The beginning of a Movie seems quiet. Mathew McConaughey acting talent sucks you in immediately and lets you stay even though you need to get additional ice cream with nuts, but you keep glued for a couple of minutes before pausing the movie.

The vastness of their old Texas ranch (at least it seemed to me like this) gives special unique taste, a sense of freedom, which is not visible to the naked eye, with its own particular taste. It adds a bit of mystery to the movie, because in the preview, you see spaceships, space suits, a bit of action, and on one hand many thoughts rush into your head, including latest releases of Star Trek The movie, which also uses motorcycles in a desert. Those two environments resemble each other, but the ranch with corn and what to do about it and the bad season year makes it different.

The mouse touch pad controlled drone that they chase in the beginning, glides swiftly, meaning light touch on pad makes it turn slowly and reasonably enough without overthrowing itself or doing something stupid. It shows superb programming abilities, from people who programmed this drone in the movie.

Cooper, the main actor, in the beginning looks as scientist in physics and metaphysics, who is working on his own project. Later in the movie, it turns out that he is a talented pilot.

Although the hiring process and how NASA hires Cooper and convinces him seem a little bit awkward and looks like Cooper himself came to them rather them picking the phone and calling him and saying “Hi Cooper, wanna fly ? Wanna work with us the next month ?”. And then they wait for his reply, well, on the phone of course. Where he is supposed to say something like” Oh my !!! Oh My !!! Yessssss !”  – does not happen !

And it is good that it does not happen that way, because a bit of magic is always needed to spark ones life. Mystery I mean.

Now, it is not like NASA hires Cooper mystically, it is just somehow, in a mystical way he found the Cyphered coordinates to a place where he could find a lot of answers for his project. And it happened to be NASA facility with distant “Life On Distant Planets” project.

Director’s light touches throughout the movie without repeating them over and over again, make it strong, with special flavor like the first appearance of yet to be Coopers robot which later will be his close helper and humor buddy, and the first time when Cooper met him during interrogations.

The camera showed a robot very trivial thing, which later it became totally the opposite.

The fact that they launched a recovery mission using traditional gravitational rocket pull, with engines standing vertically 90 degrees above the ground looks very real to nowadays space missions, and with many such small additions, the film looks very real indeed.

The whole idea of the movie, if you listen to what the astronauts are talking makes it appealing that they are there to save the world. In the beginning it looks unreal, and to the person who watches , the question arises like “why do they need to save the word ? And from what ? “ – But later you understand that people have passions, they dream, they have theories, ideas, values, good values, that they pursue whatever the cost, as with Cooper who later regrets that he took this mission from the beginning, when trapped in fourth dimensional world of his, where time is meaningless, but yet some rules exist.

The exploration part of this movie succeeds with high percentage, I would say 99 percent. Exploration of a man and what he can do , and exploration of physics and his own existence on the other hand.

From previous missions, there was a drone left with remains of spaceship on one of the planets where lots of information on Gravity and Gravitational pull was gathered, after crossing black hole, that bends time and space, allowing to visit different galaxies. Besides, if rules of gravity can be bent, many technical real world problems can be solved, including fast travel from point a to be instantaneously, since if we understand it we can create our own small black holes. The end of movie has scene where you can see its effects.

The interesting thing is that while preparing to cross the black hole, they only have theories on hand, which seems scary but not at all to the explorer. This is greatly seen from actors’ faces before the crossing. Excitement, trust in what they do, confidence. All this is clearly transcended. The producer must have done a lot of work with actors to pick the right ones and to be able to guide and work with them and in the end get exact desired results from them.

When they enter black hole, in order to get to the other galaxy, there is nice scene  where cooper’s assistant touches melting space to her right. The space actually melts as  it appears. She touches it with one hand after advised from her copilot not to.

The actual planet, where they are heading has strong gravity. And before entering black hole, Cooper releases his friend robot into the black hole to gather information about everything.

When they are about to descend into the atmosphere, the robot says that time is much slower there. One hour equivalent to 23 years on earth. This scares the crew very much, since they planned the journey only for two and a half years max.So they agreed to a fast entry into the planets atmosphere, vertically, and stay there maximum five years our time, which is close to 15 minutes on that planet, just to get the lost machinery.

They do not make it in time, hit by a large wave. Occasionally director shows how Coopers daughter is feeling and reacting during those tough moments. It shows us how loved ones are connected through time and space. Women are more emotional and sensitive, so from Cooper’s side you do not see this but more from his daughter who has already grown up. In the end they stay more than one hour on that planet, but coopers daughter grows 25 years in that time.

They lose one crew mate. And after robot helps with evacuation, they rush back into the black hole to the other side and into our galaxy.

When back on spaceship, and they see their yet another crew mate, he says that he waited 23 years for them in orbit near the black hole, and in that time he studied the black hole closely. In a movie you see him aged, and you get a sense of how much sacrifice discovery and life in general demands, living for a reason, living interestingly, not living just to survive, the idea which is far away from this movie. You see it in their faces, and not so much in glowing eyes but in all of them as actors.

It does not mean that we all should right away jump from our couches and start exploring galaxies. But it is more like a hint, that somewhere, in some time right now, people are living their dreams and not just surviving or being colonized to work for someone on a minimum wage.

It also does not mean not working and living like hippies did, this is not the point, since Cooper after one hour return directly opened all sent messages to him from earth and cried a lot, which is pain.

The crew also discusses briefly, but very clearly fourth and fifth dimensional beings  living in fourth and fifth dimension. Put it simply, take a cube not square. It is made from many squares. Each square cannot see other squares, but a cube can see and feel all squares. Cube is in third dimension, squares are in second dimension.

This movie touches these things very widely open, which brings the feeling of mysticism to the movie. We can only dream or imagine those things, and yet other things are even beyond our imagination.

The thing to notice is that after arrival from that planet where time freezes, they decide to visit another close planet in our galaxy where past crew mate from another mission stayed and sent last signal. They eventually find him, in a special bed, sleeping. They enter he right code, and revive him. Maybe the story of a sleeping beauty came to us from there ? Who knows ?!

What follows is traditional human greed. Their crew mate decides to save the world by himself, knowing that they have a spaceship orbiting his planet, and tries to get rid of Cooper. They fight , and in this loose yet another old crew mate, who came to help them on Cooper’s call.

The greed does not stop there, and their greedy mate, eventually destroys himself.

This scene shows us that we people wherever we go we start to fight. Even in the most toughest moments where we need to stay together because of circumstances, we fight, destroying everything around us and ourselves in the process.

That’s why doctors and especially doctors of medicine should vow to put their patients health in front of everything else. Same for scientists, they should vow and put scientific discovery above everything else. They choose this path, not the patients, and not surrounding planets.

Also, in the process of trying to get home after the greedy crew-mate almost blew up their return spaceship, Cooper tries to save the spaceship, ending in saving it but  suddenly blown into space with only space suit, and sucked into the orbit of black hole. He then finds himself in the realm of his own fourth dimension, being able to see his past events in life, including the moment where he left his daughter to go on a mission. His mind can not grasp it from the beginning but the robot which was left in a black hole helps him along and tries to identify and label the reality in which they both are stuck in , unable to see each other but able to hear and communicate with each other.

Here the idea of past and present came to my mind, that past and present are relative to our state of mind and existence, and what we consider as past, is not so much of a past, and what we consider future also, but the important thing is that we and only we are the ones who decide and make a difference.

Cooper tries to communicate with this past, by throwing books, trying to tell something to his other image in the past. He succeeds partially, but as we all know our stubbornness has no limitation. We take all things as granted, as fixed. Where as they are not at all!

When he figures his own riddle, in this reality,he wakes up back on earth, in earth’s time.

It turns out to be that on that mission, later on after many years another mission picked him up with his old broken robot. While in all those years, his daughter has solved the gravity riddle, and it was applied on earth, resulting in huge change.

The ending seems a little bit awkward, as if Cooper did nothing, but in fact fourth and fifth dimensions were his own discoveries, maybe even influencing some actions here on earth, which led to positive results for humanity as all.

In other words, maybe if he would have not gone to that mission, his daughter and his professor would have never solved the gravity and black hole mystery.

I am glad that this movie did not touch on such subjects as colony, poverty, diseases and sickness, because we already have a lot of it.

This movie lets you dream without leaving the reality. It is reality’s dream in a way, which is not a dream at all if you put it like this.

I think that even money themes and accumulation of wealth is not part of this movie, since major part of humanity is busy doing just that, with only small percentage succeeding totally.

It is a movie for people who love what they do, are passionate about their thing.

It is not direct planetary discovery movie. It reflects one very important thing we all share, and that is each one of us is born here for a reason, very strong reason, to do what he or she is supposed to do, not by order of some kind , but by life itself, who brought us all here.

Very nice movie.
