Duterte names Romarate, other Surigao Norte officials allegedly involved in drug trade

SURIGAO CITY - President Rodrigo Duterte named former Surigao del Norte second district representative Guillermo A. Romarate, Jr. as allegedly involved in drug trade during his speech at the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) Multi-Purpose Covered Court in Camp Panacan, Davao City on Saturday. 

Also named were former Alegria mayor Dr. Jessie U. Aguilera and Municipal Trial Court (MTC) Dapa judge Ezekiel Dagala. 

After naming some of the officials, Duterte said, "All policemen, PNP personnel assigned as security guards, security personnel ng mayor I have mentioned, you are hereby relieved of your duty and immediately report to your mother unit. Tatanggalinkonaangoperational authority over them." 

He also ordered the cancellation of any and all of their firearms licenses and permits effective Sunday, August 7. 

He said that he could be wrong, but stressed that he is ready to face the consequences. He said he has to tell the public about what is happening in the country according to his mandate.
