‘‘We will draw the blood of Desert Foxes’’-Rohr boasts; As Akwa Ibom govt mobilizes 20,000 supporters with jerseys.

Super Eagles Coach, Genort Rohr has expressed confidence that, his team would draw the blood of the Desert Foxes in today’s(Saturday’s) qualifying match judging by the readiness of his team for the football duel.

Rohr is quite positive that the lush green pitch of the Ibom International Stadium will allow his team to fully express themselves against the North Africans.

Meanwhile, the stage is set for the game just as the state government and the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, have not left any stone unturned in efforts to ensure victory for the Super Eagles. Thousands of security personnel have been deployed to assist the football body provide security during and after the tournament.

Few days ago, Akwa Ibom State Government purchased about 20, 000 Super Eagles’ jerseys for distribution to football fans as part of its support for the team in the World Cup qualifier.

Chairman, Publicity Sub -Committee of the LOC, Mr Nse Edem said the committee chaired by Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren also included medical, security, accommodation and marketing experts and would be coordinated by veteran sports journalist, Paul Bassey.

According to him, the LOC has put in place measures to ensure that lapses observed in the last AFCON qualifier against Tanzania in Uyo would not occur again.

His words, “As far as we are concerned there will be no excuses for failure because we have learnt our lessons from the last AFCON qualifier played in Uyo and, we have put every arrangement in place to ensure they don’t reoccur again’’.

He assured that 200 stewards have been mobilised to ensure the safety of fans, while the supporters clubs of local teams in the state would also be mobilised to complement the Nigeria Football Supporters Club in cheering the Super Eagles to victory.

“As far as Akwa Ibom state is concerned, there will be no margin for error for this weekend’s qualifier and we are confident that, Uyo will host all the Super Eagles home matches for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers”, he added.
