Akwa Ibom Govt. Set To Tackle Flood Menace In Eket Metropolis.

Akwa Ibom State government has taken steps to redress the menace of perennial flooding in Eket metropolis with the construction of an underground drainage system.

Governor Udom Emmanuel disclosed this in Eket while addressing the congregation at All Nations Christian Ministry International where he attended a church service.

He said that construction of internal roads would exacerbate flooding in the area without proper drainage systems and assured that the drainage project would be completed as scheduled to pave way for the smooth take off of the road construction.

Governor Emmanuel acknowledged the contributions of churches to the peace and progress witnessed in the state, stating that their prayers have attracted Divine blessings.

The Governor extolled members of the Church for putting in place a befitting worship center and commended the General overseer of the Church, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno for the impactful message delivered during the service.

On divergent views trailing the construction of ecumenical centre in the state, Mr Emmanuel blamed it on lack of Understanding, saying that discernment is a divine virtue that should be acquired by Christians and emphasized that the project is on course.

He added that his administration would not be detered by unecessary criticisms from persons who do not have proper understanding of the vision of the administration and warned people to desist from evil utterances maintaining that unguarded statement brings no good to the state.

Mr Emmanuel spoke on the need for the church expansion, explaining that he decided to worship quietly in the church and appreciated the congregation for giving him opportunity to be part of the service.

In a sermon titled Pathway To Good Harvest, the General Overseer, Pastor Umo Eno, identified obedience as a basic requirement for divine benevolence.

Taking his text from the book of Isaiah chapter 51 verses 1 -3, the Cleric cited Abraham and Sarah as the practical example of obedience and faith in God.

He charged all to always listen to Divine directive, adding that no one gets to the promised land without passing through the wilderness which engenders trust and faith in God.

Pastor Umo Eno who cautioned against murmuring and complaints during trying times, described faith as the currency of Heaven and called on the people to be wary of false prophets so as not to be distracted from the Divine Pathway and blessings.

The service which was attended by Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, Dean of Commissioners and Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare Dr Glory Edet, Commissioner for Works Mr Ephraim Inyang featured praises, songs rendition and prayers.
