Ekere family organises a thanksgiving and reception in honour of NDDC MD
The Ekere family of Ikot Oboroenyin in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State is holding a thanksgiving service and reception in honour of their son and Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Sir Nsima Ekere, on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
A statement signed on behalf of the family by the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the event and immediate past Member of the House of Representatives for Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Akpan Micah Umoh, said the service will be conducted by the Ikot Abasi Diocese of the Methodist Church Nigeria by 10 am.
It named the venue as Government Field, adjacent to the Local Government Secretariat, Ikot Abasi.
The statement explained that the service was intended to thank God for His bountiful blessings on Sir Ekere and the entire Ekere family.
In a related development, the people of Edemaya, Sir Ekere’s clan, is holding a grand reception for him on Saturday, July 22, 2017.
A statement signed by Barr. Edidiong Ubeh, the National President of Mboho Edemaya, the umbrella organization of Edemaya people, said the ceremony will hold at Methodist Central School, Ekpene Enin, Edemaya, by 10 am.
As it is expected, the event will draw some important personalities to the ancient city of Ikot Abasi.
Mr Nsima Ekere was nominated by President Buhari as the MD of the Interventionist agency on July 20, 2016 and was confirmed by the Senate to assume duty on November 1st, 2017.
Nsima Udo Ekere, 29 May 1965 (age 52), is an entrepreneur and innovative thinker with a short but impactful public service career.
He studied Estate Management at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, graduating in 1986.
In the years following, he has built successful businesses and garnered cogent national and international experiences in real estate, urban and regional planning, oil and gas, power and construction.
As a public officer, Nsima Ekere served briefly as Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State between May 2011 and October 2012 before resigning on personal grounds. Prior to that, he was the Executive Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Investment and Industrial Promotion Council, AKIIPOC, the state investment agency (2007 – 2012). He also served as Chairman, Ibom Power Company (2008 – 2011).
Ekere is a Knight of John Wesley, KJW, of the Methodist Church Nigeria.
He is married to Mrs. Ese Ekere and they are blessed with children.
