Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel, accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government Sir Etekamba Umoren and other members of the state Executive Council, embarked on inspection of on – going road construction projects across the state.
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State says he is committed to providing basic amenities and critical infrastructure that will transform the state into a one stop destination of business and leisure.
Governor Emmanuel stated this when he embarked on inspection tour of on going road construction projects in the state.
He said : ” irrespective of the current recession in the country, my administration will continue to harness available resources to better the lives of the people.” adding that he welcomes constructive criticism irrespective of persistent attacks against his administration by a section of the media” .
Accompanied by the Secretary to the state government, Sir Etekamba Umoren, and members of his executive council, the governor was conducted round the project sites by Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang. .
At the Ikot Oku Ikono – Etinan road, Governor Emmanuel expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of work and urged the contractor to speed up on the project execution in order to make significant impact before the rainy season set in.
He urged the contractors to re-double their efforts to ensure timely completion of the road project which incoperate a flyover bridge to be located at Ikot Oku Ikono junction.
At the 29km Etinan –Ndon Eyo road spanning Mbioto –Ekpene Ituen – Ikot Akpan Ishiet with a spur, the Managing Director of Wizchino Engineering Ltd, Engr Jack Zou, assured the governor that the project will be completed on schedule.
Engr. Zou who received commendation by the governor for the quality of work done, said his company works day and night to enable them deliver the project on time.
The Governor also made a stop over at the 7.9km Ikot Edor- Ikot Ebekpo-Ikot Ebidang Road as well as the ongoing remodeling and urbanization project at Atabong road in Eket Local Government Area.
At every location, residents came out in their numbers to cheer, appreciating the Governor for touching their lives.
