AKWA IBOM EXCO JOB: AKHA CONFIRMS UDOM’S NOMINEES …warns against self aggrandizement, abuse of civil service rules

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly today confirmed and ratified the list of nominees for appointment into the state executive Council as Commissioners and Special Advisers. 

They are 2 Special Advisers and 18 Commissioners nominees. Those cleared for the position of Special Adviser include, a former two term lawmaker, Rt. Hon Ekong Sampson from Mkpat Enin and Mrs. Ekemini David Umoh from Abak.

Those for the position of Commissioners are, Dr. Iniobong Essien,(Ibiono-Ibom), Dr. Dominic Ukpong(Eket), Hon.Monday Ebong Uko(Obot Akara), Barr. Uwenedimo Nwoko (IKA), Mr. Akan Okon (ITU), Dr. Mrs. Glory Edet (INI), Hon. Udo Ekpenyong (Ukanafun), Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen(ONNA), Hon. Victor Antai (MBO), Mr. Paul Alexander Udofia (Oruk-Anam), Arc. Ime Ekpo (Nsit-Ubium), Dr. Nse Udo Essien (Ikot -Ekpene), Mr. Linus Nkan (Ibesikpo -Asutan), Mr. Uduak Charles Udoinyang (Ikot -Abasi), Mr. Charles Udo (Uyo), Hon. Orman Esin (Oron) Prof. Eno Ikpe (Etinan), and Mr. Idorenyin Sunday Udo (Nsit-Atai).

The nominees were confirmed by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly through a unanimous voice vote by the lawmakers after a thorough screening of exercise which lasted for about 7 hours. Sequel to the ratification was the submission of report by the Chairman, House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights and Public petitions, Hon. Barr. Anefiok Dennis who urged the House to clear the nominees because they have met the constitutional requirement and have been found to be men and women of tested proven integrity. He added that their ability and capacity to perform in any assigned public office was not in doubt.

The nominees were later ushered into the chambers at plenary where the lawmakers asked them questions bordering on their qualifications, former place of responsibility and what value they would add to the state executive Council if cleared for appointment by the House.
Their clearance was approved by the House following a motion moved by the Leader, RT. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan and seconded by the Deputy Leader, Hon. Aniekan Bassey.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke, while congratulating the nominees, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for selecting men of high calibre and integrity to serve in the state executive Council. He advised them to bring their wealth of experience to bear while serving the state.

The Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly equally advised the Commissioners and Special Adviser designate against using their public office for self aggrandizement, and enjoined them to conduct their assignments inline with the laid down civil service rules. He particularly emphasized the need for them to work in cordiality with the Permanent Secretaries of the respective ministries where they will be assigned by the Governor for a smooth service delivery.

The Speaker directed the Clerk, Mrs. Mandu Umoren to communicate the resolution of the House to Governor Udom Emmanuel.
