*AS Ibom ENTERTAINERS DAY COMMENCES ON 24TH SEPT.

The Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Entertainment, Hon. David Sergeant, popularly known as Utang Akwa Ibom has appealed to the Deejays Association of Akwa Ibom State to ensure that local content is embedded in their activities, noting that, the State was blessed with arrays of local artists, which their intellectual properties ought to be promoted by the association.

Sergeant, who stated this, when the Executive members of the association paid him a courtesy call, stressed the need for the body to cater employment opportunities for unemployed members of the society, noting that, the association was a leeway of breeding and inculcating upcoming Deejays into the mainstream of activities.

He promised to proffer a platform where National and International gurus of the Deejays sector will hold seminar and workshop with a view of engaging members in intellectual discourse.

The Governor’s aide, who commended Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel for giving him an enable environment to serve in his led government, also thanked the organization for its peaceful conduct so far.

He announced the determination of his office to embark on Ibom Entertainment Day celebration, noting that, while the Press Briefing for the epoch making event Is scheduled for 15th September, the event will kick start on 24th, at the Ibom Plaza.

Utang Akwa Ibom stressed that, 24th September, will feature Entertainment Industry Night tour, adding that, there will also be a novelty football match between Entertainers and Governor’s aide at the Uyo Township Stadium.

He enumerated other activities to include: solemn Assembly, entertainers submit, tour of ten Federal Constituencies across the state, comedy, dinner among other activities.

The Entertainment guru, explained that, the choice of Ibom Plaza, was to give an average Akwa Ibomite a sense of belonging as well as provide avenue where they can also feel the impact of government.

He promised to promote the entertainment industry in the state to the world and urged the Executive and members of Deejays to partner with his office to actualize the goal and objective of the association.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the group, Mr. Emmanuel Nse Obot alias DJ Big nose, had applauded the Special Assistant to the governor on entertainment for giving the industry a sense of belonging, maintaining that, prior to his elevation, the industry was on its way to oblivion.

He described the association as a sixteen year old, disclosing that, the headquarter is situated at Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

He pledged the determination of the group to partner with the office of Special Assistant to the governor on Entertainment describing the gesture as apt and timely.

Also Speaking, a member of State Working Committee of Ibom Entertainers, Mr. Nseabasi described Hon. David Sergeant as square peg in a square hole, noting that, he is the first to create a committee that could actualize the goals of entertainment industry.

He revealed that, since the appointment of Sergeant, he has so far organized a football match between Entertainers and Lawmakers, road shows, visit to motherless babies as well as bring entertainment to the door step of all and sundry.

In the DJs entourage were DJ Spindeeds (Secretary ), DJ Orlando (PRO), Cool DJ Steeve (Welfare Officer),DJ Duce(Provost), and DJ Idee (Treasurer).
