In India,
Muslims are free to do everything(legal) which each and every comman man in this country enjoys.
Some things enjoyed here are-
- No Sharia law–
One of the biggest relief for a Muslim here is the absense of the law,
Muslims know that as a religion they are bound by sharia laws,but practise here at personal level only,with no binding upon them by state.Though this law creates minimum crime rates but also is old and hasn't changed in 1400 years.
Laws of theft,murder etc are very harsh,with also restrictions on every aspects of life,see example of Saudi Arabia which follows this law.
- Different groups or ideologies under a same roof-
There are many groups or ideologies in Islam,the major being Shia and Sunni's, while in other countries there is a whole lot of divide and fight between these two over power and control,we enjoy living together peacefully(though shia-sunni fights are there but very rare).
There are people following Wahabism,Sufism all under the same roof with no favour to one over the other.
- Freedom of women–
Indian Muslim women are free and better of than most of the other countries,they enjoy equal rights ,are educated,stand at par with men,take there own decisions, have no restrictions of wearing hijab or drive or vote.
- Freedom of one's views and speech–
Any Muslim in India has freedom to keep his view point and speak his mind,even if it is against the religion and can condemn the laws or fatwas passed by clerics.
- Freedom of religion-
Yes, in India a Muslim is entitled to change his religion freely,on his own will.
