Chelsea get double transfer demand after Arsenal draw to solve Mauricio Pochettino problems

[ WATCH TV LIVE ]

Chelsea threw away a two-goal lead against Arsenal on Saturday evening but the Blues made a statement to the rest of the Premier League. It showed that they can indeed compete with the best in the division.

A penalty from Cole Palmer after a handball from William Saliba gave Chelsea the lead at Stamford Bridge. Then, a second-half strike from Mykhailo Mudryk doubled the hosts' advantage, but a Mistake from Robert Sanchez gifted the Gunners a way back into the game through Declan Rice. Then, with seven minutes left of normal time, Leandro Trossard latched onto the end of a cross at the far post to level the game for Arsenal in west London.

Chelsea supporters took to Reddit after the game with mixed reactions. Some were delighted and proud that their team were able to go toe-to-toe with a potential title challenger in Arsenal, while others were disappointed the Blues did not come out of the match with all three points after boasting a two-goal lead.

One user said: "If we have to choose positives, Cucurella was very good, might be the performance that eventually propels him to be our first choice left-back. The rest of the defence had a great game too, except for Gusto losing his man.

"Our midfield bossed theirs. Mudryk had a stunning goal, Sterling was very threatening, Palmer was excellent. We're a top striker and goalkeeper away from competing from things."

Another said: "Before the match I really thought we would get battered by Arsenal like last season and we gave a great account of ourselves and showed so much more than we did in any match last season. I can't remember watching us play so well [at least for 75 minutes] for a very long time and I'm hopeful for the rest of the season. It's kinda sad but I'm convinced we will win one of the cups this season."

Mauricio Pochettino feels like it was two points dropped for his Chelsea side rather than one gained. The Argentine, however, is pleased and proud with how his side did against Arsenal for a large portion of the match.

"Yes [two points dropped] because I feel until 77 minutes when we conceded the fist goal, I think we were in control and didn't concede many chances," Pochettino said. "I think Arsenal are an amazing team, they were fighting last season for the trophy and I think this season improved with some players also. Yes, disappointed because we dropped two points."

He added on the mistake from Sanchez: "I think it can happen, this type of situation and you have to accept it. Today, we are in an era of football that the way we want to play from the back and now we cannot say he was, oh, we can be tough.

"But that is football, this is the situation. Of course, mistakes can happen in football. We make mistakes, a lot of mistakes and when the players are on the pitch they are allowed to. I think we give the possibility to make a mistake of course.

"Unlucky, because I think it was 77 minutes, 2-0, and this goal gave the belief to Arsenal, and 2-1 with 10 minutes to play, 13 minutes to play when you can concede and take risks like they were taking. In the end disappointed. At the same time, I am so happy because we were very competitive, with all the circumstances we need to feel about the performance and how we played."
