Arsenal supporters chant for Aaron Ramsdale return as January transfer shortlist revealed

[ WATCH TV LIVE ]

Arsenal drew against rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. on Saturday as the side were unable to hit their heights in a tough London derby. Goals from Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk gave the home side a healthy lead, but Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard proved to be the saviours with their strikes to earn a point.

Elsewhere, the Gunners have put together a four-man shortlist ahead of the January transfer window. Ivan Toney is considered to be the main target for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta looks to sign a new striker - adding competition for the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.

A quality back-up option for Bukayo Saka is also being considered with Wolves star Pedro Neto among the candidates being monitored. Arsenal are hoping to end their Premier League title drought this season and Jamie Carragher - as well as Peter Crouch - believe Arteta's side and Liverpool are the only two sides capable of pipping Manchester City to top spot.

David Raya reaction

Arsenal fans were less than pleased with their goalkeeper David Raya on Saturday evening as his mistakes proved costly in their draw with Chelsea. The shot-stopper gave the ball away on a few occasions that put the side into danger, before being lobbed by Mykhailo Mudryk for the second goal for the home side.

The away end responded by chanting the name of fellow goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, who has been second choice this season and was unavailable for the clash on Saturday.

Arsenal four-man January transfer shortlist emerges

Arsenal are already putting plans in place ahead of the January transfer window as Mikel Arteta looks to reinforce his squad with new signings. The Gunners are currently joint-top of the Premier League table and set to mount another title challenge this season following last season's runners-up result.

Arsenal continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League with a crucial 1-0 win against reigning champions Manchester City prior to the international break - highlighting the improvement made at the Emirates Stadium. The north Londoners can use the experience of last term's title challenge to help them this season and Arteta will not rest on his laurels as he looks to add reinforcements mid-season.

A new striker is thought to be on the Gunners' agenda in January with Brentford striker Ivan Toney linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium. A back-up option for Bukayo Saka could also be considered - but Arsenal could be forced into selling fringe players to raise funds before they can buy new players.

A report from Mirror Football states that Arteta has made Toney his number-one transfer target for January and is determined to get Arsenal to the front of the queue ahead of Chelsea and Tottenham. Toney will return from his betting ban in the New Year and Brentford are prepared to sell, but only if their £60million price tag is met.

Jamie Carragher and Peter Crouch agree on Arsenal title prediction

Arsenal are set to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in a huge Premier League clash this afternoon. The Gunners have gone unbeaten in their opening eight fixtures so far this season - winning six and drawing twice.

Mikel Arteta added Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber and David Raya to his squad in the summer transfer window as Arsenal target another Premier League title challenge this season. The Gunners' latest win in the Premier League saw Gabriel Martinelli score a dramatic late winner against reigning champions Manchester City - moving them level with Tottenham at the top of the table.

Ex-Liverpool star Peter Crouch believes the Gunners - along with Jurgen Klopp's side - are the only two teams capable of beating City to the Premier League title this season. Speaking to TNT Sport, the former Liverpool striker said: “I think they [Liverpool] are definitely in with a shout, I think it’s them and Arsenal chasing City.

“If you had to hang your hat on it or, you had to have a bet on it for your life, then you’d say City win the league. But I think Liverpool can be the best of the rest and push them all the way.”
