Eddie Nketiah, Takehiro Tomiyasu: Arsenal injury news and return dates following Fulham clash

[ UK TV LIVE ]

Arsenal's perfect start to the 2023/24 season is now over.

The Gunners were unable to secure all three points against Fulham on Saturday afternoon, conceding in the 87th minute in an eventful 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium. One positive from the game against the Cottagers, however, was the returns of previously injured Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus.

The former Manchester City dup made their appearances of the season off the bench, with Zinchenko getting over half an hour and Jesus coming on in Injury time. Here, football.london has rounded up the latest injury news from Mikel Arteta's side ahead of next weekend's clash against Manchester United.

Eddie Nketiah

Nketiah came off the bench to put Arsenal 2-1 ahead against Fulham with a well-timed run and strike. Rumours then circulated that the Hale Ender picked up a knee injury.

The striker did, however, finish the game and conducted media interviews afterward and football.london understands the gossip was wide of the mark.

Injury: Knee

Return date: Manchester United (H) - September 3

Gabriel Jesus

The striker made his first appearance of the season off the bench in the draw against Fulham, although he only played ten minutes and was unable to grab a winner.

Return date: Manchester United (H) - September 3

What Arteta has said: "The way we generated chance after chance I didn’t think it was necessary (to bring Jesus on). We decided in the last minute to bring him in. He’s only had a few days of training sessions after the surgery."

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Tomiyasu was sent off in the second half against Crystal Palace for two bookable offences. The defender will now serve a one-match suspension, meaning he will be unavailable for Fulham’s trip to the Emirates.

Jurrien Timber

The Dutch defender cruelly sustained an ACL injury on his Arsenal debut against Nottingham Forest. Timber is expected to miss the majority of the season.

Injury: Knee

Return date: 2024

What Arteta has said: "Huge blow. Especially for him after just joining the club. To have the injury he has is a huge blow. We recruited him with clear intentions and what he was bringing to the team was evident, but he's not going to be able to do it this season. We have to adapt. These things happen, unfortunately, and we have to move on."

Mohamed Elneny

The midfielder suffered a serious knee injury in January, which sidelined him for the remainder of last season. There has been little news regarding his recovery and a possible return date is currently unclear.

Injury: Knee

Return date: TBC

Also recovering at London Colney: Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nicolas Pepe, Cedric Soares, Nuno Tavares.
