Tottenham 'on verge of Ange Postecoglou appointment' as Celtic begin replacement search

Tottenham could unveil Ange Postecoglou as their new coach as early as next week with Celtic already said to be looking for his replacement, according to reports from Scotland. The Australian Boss takes charge of the Hoops for what could prove to be the final time this weekend when his side bid to win a historic treble when they square off with Inverness in the Scottish Cup final.

Tottenham's exhausting managerial search now looks to be nearing a positive conclusion after months of speculation and damming setbacks.

That's because according to The Scottish Sun, Postecoglou's move to Spurs is now imminent and an announcement could arrive as early as next week.

Celtic are allegedly already devising a list of potential replacements as they prepare to part company with their highly-rated tactician, who has already won back-to-back SPFL titles following his appointment in the summer of 2021.

Now he could be heading south of the border with Tottenham eagerly awaiting the chance to wipe the slate clean following a dismal season that saw them miss out on Champions League qualification.

Postecoglou reaffirmed his commitment to Celtic last weekend when his Hoops side lifted the SPFL title following their 5-0 demolition of Aberdeen.

Daniel Levy has been forced to stomach several high-profile setbacks and punches to the gut after former boss Mauricio Pochettino was unveiled as Chelsea's new head coach earlier this week.

Although Tottenham refrained from an approach for the Argentine, it will be difficult to watch him lead Spurs' arch-rivals into a new exciting era at Stamford Bridge where there is plenty of cash to spend.

Vincent Kompany and Xabi Alonso were firmly admired but both opted to remain with their current clubs Burnley and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively.

Tottenham were also snubbed by Feyenoord boss Arne Slot who has since extended his contract in Rotterdam after firing his side to the Eredivisie title.

Spurs opted to distance themselves from Julian Nagelsmann and briefed that they were not even planning to talk to the German, who was once considered a heavy favourite for the job.

Other candidates including Luis Enrique and Ruben Amorim were admired but Tottenham's interest never materialised to anything more than that.

Roberto De Zerbi is also set to remain at Brighton despite admiration from elsewhere, including north London where his arrival would surely have been relished following a stunning debut Premier League season.

Tottenham need to get their new boss in place as soon as possible in order to begin their summer recruitment drive.

There are also other topics on the agenda, not least the future of Harry Kane and the appointment of a new captain with Hugo Lloris expected to depart for pastures new.

Kane would be the frontrunner for the captaincy if he is to stay put but his future remains up for debate as he approaches the final 12 months of his contract.

The England captain hit 30 Premier League goals this season following his final-day brace at Leeds and with Manchester United lingering, Levy could be faced with another high-profile transfer saga.
