Premier League new boys Luton Town are considering an ambitious swoop for former loanee Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall following Leicester's gut-wrenching relegation to the Championship. The 24-year-old box-to-box midfielder is among a cluster of names expected to lead a mass exodus at the King Power Stadium this summer after the Foxes failed to beat the drop on the final day of the season despite a 2-1 victory over West Ham.

Dewsbury-Hall enjoyed a stellar campaign with the Hatters in the 2020/21 season when he was one of the best players in the Championship, winning Luton's Players' Player of the Year award and three other individual prizes.

Although the Championship play-off winners are still finalising summer recruitment plans, it's understood Dewsbury-Hall is part of their thinking even though it's currently unclear whether he would be attainable.

The Englishman, who is currently unwinding after a long season, is expected to bide his time and assess which offers arrive on the table before rushing into any decision over his future as he targets an immediate return to the top-flight.

Luton are understandably keen to protect their wage structure upon arrival in the promised land and crucially, Dewsbury-Hall is not likely to require a salary that would be deemed totally out of reach, although his price tag could prove challenging to match.

Interestingly, the Leicester No.22 also posted a congratulatory message on social media for his former club on Saturday following their promotion, writing: "Luton Town, unbelievable. No one deserves it more, enjoy!"

The Hatters are also keen to make Marvelous Nakamba's loan move from Aston Villa permanent following his monumental impact at Kenilworth Road.

No Championship player made more tackles than the Zimbabwe international since he joined Luton on transfer deadline and the combative midfielder proved influential to their promotion bid.

He currently has just one year left to run on his Aston Villa deal following his £11million move from Club Brugge in 2019.

When quizzed on whether Luton supporters can expect to see Nakamba back playing for the club next season, he replied: "Hopefully!"

He then added during the post-match function at the Town Hall: “You can never say never in life, only God knows the future.

"Now I’m happy, we are celebrating, hopefully, you never know. I just have to celebrate now with Luton and hopefully for the best outcome that will come, I will be grateful for it.”

Luton are also set to enter talks with Leeds over the permanent signing of 21-year-old full-back Cody Drameh, who was another key cog in their promotion-winning machine.

Burnley are also interested in the Englishman but any deal hinges on whether Leeds are prepared to sell with huge changes anticipated at Elland Road.

The Hatters' penalty-shootout triumph over Coventry City saw them bank a whopping £170m in prize money.

The club are expected to spend in the region of £10m making amendments to Kenilworth Road, most notably the Bobbers Stand in a bid to ensure it's up to Premier League standard come the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

Chief executive Gary Sweet confirmed on Monday that work was already underway: "The boxes got stripped out yesterday. We are on the way."
