Tottenham's rivals have been left fearing Spurs might end their 15-year silverware drought under Ange Postecoglou - but only after listening to fans of his former clubs

Premier League fans have been left fearing the worst by the news Ange Postecoglou could take over as Tottenham manager while leaving Celtic.

Supporters have taken to social media to suggest the Aussie might help Spurs end their long trophy drought following his work with treble-winning Celtic and the Socceroos national side - despite others asking who is he.

Postecoglou, who looks set to link-up with Daniel Levy later this week, may not be a household name - but those who have seen him in action are expecting big things.

One backer said: "Just so the casuals and haters are aware... Ange Postecoglou is a highly respected manager. Spurs have done very well here... he's just not a household name."

A second said: "That's an outstanding signing, I lived in Australia when he managed them, and he worked absolute miracles with that team. Spurs fans will love him."

That has seeped into the minds of rival fans, with comments fearing Spurs could win their first trophy since the League Cup in 2008.

One fan said "This is worrying. Spurs might actually win something."

A second added: "I think he’s the real deal. If he fails at Spurs I’d give up if I was a Spurs fan."

A third posted: "He's made a positive impact at every club he has worked with...he could be the man that gets Spurs a trophy."

Postecoglou oversaw five trophy lifts across two seasons at Celtic after taking over from Neil Lennon, including two Scottish Premiership titles.

His previous work includes getting Australia to two World Cup tournaments, as well as winning the J1 League with Yokohama F. Marinos.

Postecoglou, 57, has a managerial win ratio of 53.74% from 681 fixtures, compared to Antonio Conte's 58.08% and Ryan Mason's 46.2%.
