Police continue to arrest drugs

DAVID MELSON – [email protected]

Marijuana was confiscated from a man found sleeping in his car behind the food lion, Colloredo Boulevard, at 3:50 am Thursday. This was reported by the Shelbyville police.

Officer Andrew Koehler said in his report that he smelled marijuana in the car of Gregorio Morales Jr., 19, from Ligon Drive. Koehler and cops Jonathan Evans, Jeremiah Guinn and Dylan Bliss found five bags of marijuana weighing 48.1 grams, smaller bags used for resale, hash oil and a digital scale.

Morales was arrested on charges of distributing a controlled substance for the purpose of selling and possessing drug paraphernalia and a previous failure to appear charge. He was held on $15,000 Bail.

Several more people were arrested over the weekend on charges of drug possession.

  • Douglas Cody Tomlin-Hunter, who was pulled over by Bedford County deputies on Friday knowing he was wanted for stealing merchandise, found himself in even more trouble.

Tomlin-Hunter, 32, was stopped while cycling on Highway 231 North. MPs Brianna Gaines and Jeff Goodrich found 0.05 grams of marijuana, 0.9 grams of crystal meth and several plastic bottles, Gaines’ report said. He was charged with possession of a Schedule 2 drug with intent to resell, possession of a Schedule 6 drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The bond was set at $10,000.

  • A man stopped by windows allegedly tinted too dark on North Main Street on Friday was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, and simple possession of List 6 drugs.

Merlo’s report states that 58-year-old Gregory A. Baker of Old Pencil Mill Road failed field sobriety tests by Officer Brandi Merlo and was in possession of a loaded gun and a joint of marijuana. Baker posted a $9,500 bail.

  • Timothy Allen Merrell, 33, from Tullahoma was arrested for domestic violence Saturday morning at a Madison Street hotel when he admitted to having a small marijuana bud in his pocket. He posted a $15,000 bail. • Robert Corwin was cited for simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia when pulled over for speeding Saturday night on Highway 231 North.

Officer Stephen Dalton said in his report that he found marijuana and a pipe in the center console.

  • Tiffany Williamson was cited for simply possessing and possessing drug paraphernalia Sunday at Walmart when a customer passing by her car smelled marijuana and alerted police.

Officer Gary Goodwin’s report states that Williamson passed a “small amount” of marijuana.

Vandalism

The $500 to $1,000 brick fountain was destroyed by vandals, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office said early Saturday.

Theft

  • A 12-gauge shotgun was the only thing missing from a house on the 4700 block of Highway 41A North that was vandalized on Saturday, the BCSO said.
  • Police said the man, who said he was homeless, picked up a cell phone Wednesday at Huddle House on North Main Street.

The suspect contacted the victim and said he was going to return the phone, but not immediately.

Fraud

A woman who bought a car on a Facebook marketplace told a Bedford County MP that the seller misled her.

She was told that the car, for which she paid $10,000, had traveled about 100,000 miles. She was later told at the county clerk’s office that the car had a remanufactured passport and had over 200,000 miles on it.

The seller responded to the buyer’s complaints by blocking her from his Facebook account and sending her harassing messages ordering her to stop contacting him.

MP Shaq Thompson suggested that she seek the advice of an attorney and consider filing a civil lawsuit.
