Yes, it’s a foggy Morning in San Antonio on Tuesday, February 28th. However, according to the National Weather Service, this is not due to the West Texas dust storm, which has caused hazy and misty mornings in Dallas and the Fort Worth area.

Instead, NWS meteorologist Bob Fogerty told MySA that the fog was caused by a combination of cool weather in the area, as well as winds from the southeast that brought moisture into the air. Due to a combination of both factors, visibility is now poor in San Antonio on Tuesday morning. Fogerty said the fog would last until noon.

While this will soon be gone, Fogerty said the hazy and foggy morning will return this week. He said a cold front from the west will bring strong winds and moisture to San Antonio starting Thursday evening, March 2. Because of this, the next morning on Friday, March 3, will be foggy.

A cold front is a Pacific cold front that originates over the Pacific Ocean and approaches us from the west. They usually bring us more dry air than cold air, resulting in cool mornings and mild afternoons. These fronts are common in spring and autumn.

Fogerty said San Antonio is likely to see a colorful sunset and sunrise on Thursday and Friday, as well as the possibility of poor visibility. He noted that in fog, drivers should slow down, leaving more space between themselves and the vehicle in front.

Behind the cold front, strong to severe storms are also possible on the northeast side of the city. The storms will be isolated and may cause hail and damaging winds.
