New TaskUs in Braunfels lay off almost 200 employees this week

About 200 employees of the company from San Antonio will soon be out of work. The layoffs are expected to begin this weekend and last until March.

New Braunfels-based Taskus will lay off 186 employees on Friday, February 24, according to a report from the San Antonio Business Journal. Specific 186 positions were not explicitly indicated.

“As part of an ongoing process to optimize our delivery area and respond to customer needs, we are eliminating a small number of US positions,” a TaskUs spokesperson said in an email to MySA. “We encourage affected employees to apply for open positions. For those not staying at TaskUs, we are offering severance pay, health insurance renewals, and EAP benefits to help them transition.”

TaskUs provides companies with digital outsourcing services designed to help companies “strengthen, protect and grow their brands,” according to the TaskUs website.

“We partner with some of the world’s most disruptive brands that share the same mindset, enabling us to reach new heights like never before, and in ways other BPOs simply cannot,” the website says. .


According to a Feb. 16 letter TaskUs sent to the Texas Human Resources Commission, the company says that “While TaskUs continues to attempt to place some or all of the affected employees in other positions within TaskUs, there is a possibility that TaskUs will lay off 186 employees.” at the San Antonio Facility, and their last day of work is between February 24 and March 20.”

According to the letter, the San Antonio facility is located at 5000 Walzem Road, San Antonio, TX 78218.

TaskUs first opened a call center in San Antonio in 2017, which employs about 500 people. The following year, 2018, TaskUS leased a 41,000-square-foot space at the Heritage Plaza Building in New Braunfels, according to a SABJ report.
