The Daughters of Mary Tyler chapter of the American Revolution (DAR) announced the 2023 Good Citizen Award recipients and recently celebrated its 75th anniversary with Barbara Faulkner.
Katherine Strader of Tyler Legacy High School won a $1,776 scholarship and all 13 good citizens received $250 scholarships.

Good Citizen awards, badges and scholarships were presented by Committee Chair Lynn Bordeaux and Karma Weaver. The chairman was head regent Joanna Reagan.
Barbara Faulkner was also presented with a bouquet of flowers, a 75th birthday certificate, and a DAR badge for her lifetime membership with the Daughters of an American Revolutionary.
Faulkner, Honorary Chapter Regent, was joined on the podium by her daughter, Sally Combs, co-chair of the Constitution Committee.
Faith Leach and Isabella Bruschi of the Rose City Young Marines served as color guards.
The ceremonies were held at the Willow Brook Country Club on 14 February.
The Mary Tyler Chapter was founded on February 28, 1907 by Jenny Mae Perry. It was named after Mary Maroth Armistead Tyler, mother of John Tyler, 10th President of the United States of America.
