SAN DIEGO. San Diego is home to many celebrities.

From Oscar winners to high-flying athletes, America’s Best City is known for its stellar production.

FOX 5 compiled a list of seven influential people from the San Diego area:

The actor, best known for his Oscar-winning roles in Black Klansman (2018) and Marriage Story (2019), was born in San Diego but moved to Mishawaka, Indiana after his parents divorced.

Cameron Diaz, a blue-eyed actress who started her acting career with a big role in The Mask (1994) as a model, was born in San Diego. She cemented her fame in 1998 with the box-office film There’s Something About Mary.

A San Diegan native who graduated from Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley, the versatile Nick Cannon has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry, hosting TV shows, rapping and acting on the big screen. He even owns a combined restaurant, sports bar and gambling hall called Wild ‘N Out in the heart of the Gaslamp District.

Tony Hawk, who transcended the skateboarding world with his competitive titles, historic 900-degree spin and iconic video game series, was born in Carlsbad. He currently resides in Encinitas and co-owns Chick & Hawk in the coastal region.

Kris Jenner, formerly known as Kristen Mary Houghton, is a well-known media personality and entrepreneur. A New York Times Bestselling Author, she has launched several commercial ventures, including a line of cosmetics and clothing. Jenner is also from San Diegan and grew up in the Claremont area where she attended Longfellow Elementary School.

Recently retired snowboarder Shaun White, nicknamed “The Flying Tomato”, is arguably one of the best snowboarders in history, having won three Olympic gold medals and several X Summer and Winter Games medals. Another native of Carlsbad, he followed in the footsteps of Tony Hawk and also had an impressive career as a skateboarder.

Chula Vista native Mario Lopez, best known for playing AC Slater on the 1989 television sitcom Saved by the Bell, has since become a New York Times best-selling author, producer, host and two-time Emmy Award winner.
