Alabama Roots: League leaders won’t break NFL records in a single season in 2022

During the 2022 NFL regular season, five Alabama high school and college players led the league in outstanding statistical categories.

NFL leaders with Alabama football roots included:

· The Pittsburgh Steelers defended Minka Fitzpatrick (Alabama) with six interceptions.

· Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (Alabama) with 349 rush attempts.

· Josh Jacobs (Alabama), Las Vegas running back with 1,653 rushing yards, 2,053 scrimmage yards and 2,053 all-round yards.

· New England Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones (Enterprise, Troy) with 362 punt return yards.

· Denver Broncos player Corliss Waitman (South Alabama) with 96 punts.

But those league-leading numbers weren’t enough to win a single-season NFL high school or college Alabama player after breaking three single-season records in the first year of the 17-game schedule in 2021.
