Fort Lupton State Girls Wrestling Tournament Debate

DENVER – Three Fort Lupton female wrestlers advanced to the quarterfinals of the Deb Women’s Wrestling Tournament. 16 at the ball arena.

Defending state champion Rylee Balcazar pinned Jefferson’s Victoria Simental in 2:42 of their 105-pound match. Balcazar faces Pomona’s Alora Martinez in the quarterfinals.

The Bluedevils’ 125-pounder Genevieve Hunt went into two overtimes before beating Chatfield’s Savannah Brehm 3-2. Hunt faces Regis Jesuit’s Alexis Segura in the quarterfinals.

Lashya Tijerina landed a 5-0 decision over Coronado’s Regan Mitchell in the opening round at 155 lbs. Tijerina’s clear opponent is Alissa DuBois from Bennett High School.

Abigaol Retana, who lost in the first round to Discovery Canyon’s Mia Thorne at 110 pounds, faces Overland’s Voiolet Garcia in the consolation round. Aneesa Chavez lost to Mead’s Ashley Booth in the opening round at 149 pounds. Chavez faces Douglas County’s Grecia Montejo-Garcia.

Dahlila Tijerina lost her first round match to Grand Junction Centra’s Layla Casto at 190 lbs. Tijerina faces Lamar’s Jaxi Mireles in a consolation round match.

The action resumes at 8.30am on Friday 17 February.
