Barracuda Renews PGA Tour Local Stop Title Sponsorship

The local stop of the Pga Tour will retain its title sponsor until at least 2025 as Barracuda Networks, Inc. signed a multi-year extension as title sponsor.

Barracuda Networks, a Silicon Valley security company, became a general sponsor in 2014. The 2023 Barracuda Championship will take place July 17-23 at Old Greenwood, broadcast live on the Golf Channel.

The Barracuda Championship is the only PGA Tour event to use a modified Stableford scoring format since 2012.

The Barracuda Championship and the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation have donated more than $5 million to charity since the tournament’s inception in 1999 and donated $25,000 to the Discovery Museum last year.

“Hosting an event like this was a great backdrop for networking with our customers and partners, and the Reno-Tahoe-Truckee community was extremely gracious and supportive,” Hatem Naguib, CEO of Barracuda Networks, said in a press release. “Over the past few years, we have worked closely with the PGA Tour to make a positive impact on the Reno-Tahoe-Truckee community through the tournament. Giving back to the community is a proud tradition on the PGA Tour and also very important to Barracuda.”

The tournament is a FedExCup event on the PGA Tour and Race to Dubai on the DP World Tour.

The winner of the tournament earns 300 FedExCup points, 710 Race to Dubai points and a two-year waiver from both the PGA Tour (one year for non-participants) and the DP World Tour.

Past winners of the Barracuda Championship include Nota Begay III, Gary Woodland, Colleen Morikawa and 2022 Champion Chaz Reevy.

“I can’t think of a better way to start the tournament’s 25th anniversary than by extending our partnership with Barracuda,” said Chris Hoff, director of the Barracuda Championship, in a press release. “With the support of Barracuda as our main sponsor, the tournament continues to have a positive impact on the Reno-Tahoe-Truckee community and we hope this impact will continue to grow in the coming years.”
