HARLINGEN, TX (ValleyCentral) — Texas’s favorite HEB has been named America’s #1 grocery store nationwide.
According to Dunnhumby, a global customer data company, HEB ranked #1 in the overall preference ranking of grocery store clerks.
The index includes 63 of the country’s largest retail stores that sell both food and non-food household items, the website says.
HEB was able to dethrone Amazon in the overall rankings, taking first place in large part due to “quality” and “price, promotions and rewards,” as the rankings showed.
While Amazon still maintains a lead in the “digital” category by taking first place, HEB is not far behind in eighth place.
“HEB is unique in the sense that, in addition to the average rating in the Speed and Convenience column, it is in the top quartile in each column. It delivers many benefits without requiring customers to compromise,” Dunnhamby said.
According to research, these are the top 5 grocery stores in overall RPI:
- EUR
- Costco wholesale
- Amazon
- Wegmans
- Sam’s Club
The Texas grocery store outperformed several other notable stores, including Costco at No. 2, Target at No. 11, and Walmart at No. 15.
“In 2022, customers have shifted their focus back to saving money or looking for good overall value (combining product quality with better prices), while sacrificing time savings, digital experiences and operations,” the study says.
