Before the McDonald’s All-American roster was unveiled on Tuesday, SBLive took a look at the top female high school basketball stars in the country.

Eli Allen, James Monroe (West Virginia)

Allen made the West Virginia State A-team twice and was the Junior Classified Player of the Year. The point guard led James Monroe to a perfect 28-0 record and the state title last winter. He averages 22.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 9.2 assists, 3 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.

Jake Bevacqua, The Meadows (Nevada)

Current Nevada Class 2A Player of the Year, Bevacqua, helped The Meadows to last year’s state title. He is a dynamic scorer who can play in any defensive position.

Jackson Brundle, Tribune Greeley County (Kansas)

Brundle is Kansas’ class 1A-II scoring car, averaging 28.1 points, 10 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.7 steals as a senior. Last winter, the all-around defender was named the best player of the year according to the classification.

Isaiah Brown, Orlando Christian Prep (FL)

Brown is the leading scorer on the Orlando Christian Prep team, which won Florida’s Class 2A title last year, and is once again among the state’s top small school teams. The 6-foot-4 youngster is ranked 97th among national prospects in the 247Sports composite rankings. He averages 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Isaac Bruns, Dakota Valley (South Dakota)

A dangerous shooter on the outside, the 6-foot-5 Bruns won South Dakota’s Class A Player of the Year award as a junior. The University of South Dakota team helped his team to the state title and a perfect 26-0 record last winter. This season, he is averaging 23 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals.

Terry Bussey, Timpson (TX)

Bassi, a bi-sport star, was recently named the 2022 Mister Texas High School Football Player of the Year. He is a four-star prospect who will play football at the next level, but Bassi was also selected in his sophomore year in class 2A basketball. He averages 19.6 points, 7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals.

Christopher Fields Jr., Petersburg (Virginia)

The 6’7″ Fields led Petersburg to the Virginia 3rd Class Junior Finals. For his efforts, Fields was voted Classified Player of the Year. Earlier this season, Fields Jr. scored 49 points in a win over Dinwiddie.

Dayton Forsythe, Dale (Oklahoma)

Forsythe scored 37 points in the previous year’s Class 2A Oklahoma State Championship game, leading Dale to the program’s first championship. Dale recently won the Tulsa Tournament of Champions as Forsythe had 34 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists in the final against 5A’s Memorial. The 6-foot-3 defenseman received offers from Oklahoma and Oklahoma State after a big performance.

Cam Hyatt, Kings (Washington)

Last season, Hyatt was selected as a Class 1A freshman in Washington State, and the Kings finished second in the state tournament. King’s has played in seven of the last nine 1A state championship games, winning three titles (2015, 2016 and 2020). Now a 6-foot-4 sophomore, Hiatt is one of the most influential sophomores across the country this season – a player who has excelled against higher ranked teams.

Chris Lockett, Jr., Newman (Louisiana)

Newman, last year’s Louisiana Class 2A, helped Newman rally to win the state championship, a legendary program for the first time since 1993. Lockett is a 6-foot-5, three-star prospect who will play college basketball for Boise State. He fills the stats table as a senior with 16.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, four assists and 1.6 steals.

Austin Maurer, Cascade Christian (OR)

The seven-foot Maurer, ranked 149th nationally in the 247Sports overall rankings in 2024, is Oregon’s reigning Class 3A Player of the Year. He recently passed the 1,000 mark in his high school career and received offers from Oregon and Wyoming, among others. Maurer is averaging 25.2 points, 12.2 rebounds and 3.8 blocks.

Angel Ochoa, St. Joseph Academy (California)

Ochoa, a sophomore quarterback, is averaging 34.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals for Saint Joseph Academy in San Diego. Ochoa exploded with 53 points and 10 rebounds in a recent win over Fallbrook.

Walker Patton, Bergman (Arkansas)

Patton, who qualified in Arkansas in the Class 3A last year, has grown from a no-light sharpshooter and high-scoring defender into a versatile offensive weapon. He still scores a lot, but is now the lead playmaker on Bergman’s team, which is in contention for the state title.

Ty Pence, St. Joseph Ogden (Illinois)

The 6’6″ Pence became Illinois State’s first Class 2A team as junior St. Joseph Ogden. The Illinois signing player can score from anywhere on the court and is also an outstanding player on the ballpark.

Tennessee Rainwater, Davenport (WA)

The 6’6″ Rainwater can jump out of the gym and was a scoring machine for Davenport’s Washington Class 2B. He has Division I offers from Idaho State and Utah Tech and is one of the most complete small school players in the country.

Daylin Swain, Columbus Africentric (Ohio)

Last winter, the 6-foot-7 Swain was named Ohio Division III Player of the Year after a sensational junior season with Columbus Africentric. Swain is a four-star recruit who will stay on the staff to play college basketball at Xavier.

D’Shawn Vineyard, Magdalena (NM)

Vineyard was one of three Magdalena players to receive All-Union Class 1A first-team honors during last year’s state championship. Wynyard, the senior quarterback, scored 30 points in the title game and is looking to lead the Steers in another playoff scoring this winter. He averages 18.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.3 steals.

Case Wynott, Lapway, Idaho

A 6-foot-5 point guard, Wynott can do a little bit of everything on the basketball court. Jr. has led Lapway to consecutive Class 1A Idaho State titles and is attracting recruiting interest in Division I schools. assists, 3.2 assists and 3.8 blocks.

Trent Thomas, Cottage Hill Christian Academy (Alabama)

At 6’6″ and 225 pounds, Thomas will play college football in South Alabama, but the versatile high schooler is also a dominant force on the basketball court. As a junior, he was selected to the Class 3A Alabama State First Team and plays football and basketball alongside his twin brother Tyler, who is also a Division I football prospect. Trent is averaging 13.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.3 steals.

Robert Wright III, Neumann-Goretti (PA)

Wright III, a four-star in the 2024 class, was named Class 4A Pennsylvania Player of the Year last winter as he helped Neumann-Goretti to the state title. He is a dynamic junior point guard who recently made a verbal promise to Baylor. Wright III is averaging 22.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.9 steals.
