Six Dallas police officers Shot an 18-year-old murder suspect 57 times after the man fired at least twice, wounding the Officer in the leg, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia told reporters Friday.

The department posted footage from the body camera to YouTube on Friday afternoon.

Police say Joey Freire, 18, died in hospital on Wednesday after Dallas cops shot and killed him in West Oak Cliff. Freyr was prosecuted by the Department’s Fugitive Unit on a capital arrest warrant in connection with the murder of a resident of the Farm Section.

Officers found Freire in the passenger seat of a car at 2500 Bahama Drive on Wednesday afternoon around 3:00 p.m. Police say officers urged Freyr and the driver to get out of the car. According to Garcia, the driver got out of the car, but Fryer stayed behind and fired at least two shots at the officers, wounding one of them – Joshua Gonzalez – in the leg.

The officers returned fire with 57 shots and hit Freyr while another officer was shot dead. Both were taken to a local hospital.

Freyr died Wednesday at 3:44 p.m. from gunshot wounds.

The officer was cured and released.

This is an evolving story and will be updated.
