Selma I. Anderson, 97, of Highland Avenue, Williamstown, died peacefully at her home on Monday, January 23, 2023.

Selma was born on January 14, 1926 in Stanleyville, Ohio to the late Raymond E. Beale and Florence E. Semon Beale. She graduated from Lawrence High School in 1944 and from Mountain State Business College where she studied accounting. She has worked for many years in the furniture retail industry in Marietta and in the Biehl insurance agency. She was a member of the Williamstown First Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed the church’s women’s association activities, including the annual vegetable soup sale. She was also the treasurer of the church for many years. Selma was also a member of the Williamstown Women’s Club and enjoyed attending the many events held at Williamstown City Park.

She is survived by her three sons, Chuck Anderson and his wife Sharon of East Liverpool, Ohio; Dave Anderson and his wife Kathy from Williamstown; and Don Anderson and his wife Michelle of Nashota, Wisconsin. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Brent (Linda), Kimberly, Daniel (Christy), Meredith, Michael (Farrah), Nikki (Jason), Andrew, Paul and Leah (Cody). Selma also had fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was survived by her sister-in-law Charlotte Biel.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Anderson, twin brothers Duane and Dwight Beale.

The family would also like to express their gratitude to all the caregivers who have helped our mom live at home over the past few years. Thanks also to the Amedisys nurses and staff for their recent care.

Services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Williamstown First Presbyterian Church, led by Rev. Elizabeth Campbell-Malecke. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Williamstown. The family will host friends from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday at Hadley Funeral Home, Reno Chapel, 1021 Pike Street, Marietta, Ohio, and one hour before church service.

Memorials may be made at Williamstown Presbyterian Church, 314 Fifth Street, Williamstown WV 26187, run by the Women’s Association.
