Recruiting Notebook: Nick Saban visits Lindale; Michigan offers Chapel Hill sophomores

Alabama has been successful in recruiting across the country for several years now.

Since 2011, Alabama has ranked first in the nation for recruitment nine times, and has been second in two other years.

And recently, the Crimson Tide has been successful in recruiting in East Texas.

In the class of 2022, Alabama caught four-star Legacy runner Tyler Jamarion Miller, who was the fourth running back in the nation.

In the class of 2023, Crimson Tide signed four-star Tyler Legacy quarterback Jordan Renaud (number six wide receiver in the nation) and longview five-star wide receiver Jalen Hale (number six wide receiver in the nation).

Alabama is currently working with some East Texans from the class of 2024.

Over the weekend, Dangerfield four-star cornerback Irene Hampton (8th cornerback in the nation) received an Offer from Alabama during her visit to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Hampton received offers from Purdue on Tuesday and from Oregon on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Alabama State football head coach Nick Saban visited Lindale High School, home to four-star offensive lineman Casey Poe (12th inside offensive lineman nationally).

Saban and Alabama assistant offensive head coach/receiver coach Holmon Wiggins were both at Lindale. They also made stops in the Dallas-Fort Worth area at Lancaster, DeSoto, and Mansfield Summit.

BYU and Sam Houston also visited Lindale on Tuesday, and visited Baylor, Texas Institute of Technology and Florida on Friday.

Texas Tech Coach Josh Cochran, a former Hallsville high school honor student and brother of Lindale head football coach Chris Cochran, visited Lindale Friday with Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire.

Poe has several proposals, including Alabama, and added an offer from BYU on Tuesday.

According to 247Sports, Poe will visit Texas A&M on Saturday, Oklahoma on January 28 and TCU on January 29, and he will visit Alabama in the spring.

Michigan left its mark on East Texas on Tuesday.

The Wolverines, who have played in the college football playoffs for the past two seasons, offered two sophomores from Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

Demetrius Brisbon, the Class of 2025 quarterback who led Chapel Hill to two straight trips to the Division I Class 4A semi-finals, reported the offer from Michigan.

Backfield mate Ricky Stewart, a 2025 running back who also started on the State Bulldogs’ semi-final teams, also received an offer from Michigan on Tuesday.

2024 class Beckville three-star runner J’Cobe Williams also received an offer from Michigan on Tuesday.

Class of 2024 four-star running back Tyler Derrick McFall (National No. 12 Athlete) received an offer from Florida on Friday and is due to visit Washington this weekend.

2024 class Longview four-star runner Taylor Tatum (3rd nationally ranked runner) will visit Michigan on Jan. 28. Tatum received offers from Ohio and Arkansas on Tuesday, Alabama on Sunday and Arizona on Thursday.

Four-star 2024 Pine Tree quarterback Deelin Evans (nationally ranked 15th quarterback) is an employee of Texas A&M, but he received an offer from LSU on Sunday and from Michigan on Jan. 11.
