Centrist Emmanuel Macron routs Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump-backed Nazi Marine Le Pen by over 30 points to win the presidential elections in France.
Macron, who was endorsed for former President Barack Obama, is France’s youngest leader since Napoleon Bonaparte. He has never run for elected office before.Exit polls show Macron winning by 65.9 percent to Le Pen’s 34.1 percent. He is expected to win by 30+ points, in a clear repudiation of Le Pen’s message.
Laurence Haim, spokeswoman for Macron’s En Marche! party fired a warning shot to Donald Trump on the Paris Climate Accord, during an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, saying that he will be very vigilant with him.
Emmanuel Macron won against nationalism, as voters shun the divisive rhetoric from Le Pen. The far right got routed again. First it was Austria, then the Netherlands and now France.
You will recall Trump tried to barge into the French election campaign with a fear-mongering tweet:
Another terrorist attack in Paris. The people of France will not take much more of this. Will have a big effect on presidential election!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 21, 2017
Macron’s victory is a defeat for the alt-right/fake news subset that tried to prop up Le Pen. They failed bigly. It’s pretty shameful that the U.S. is the only western country where a chunk of its citizens elected a know-nothing nationalist loudmouth pathological liar, who thrives on fake news and conspiracy theories.

At least now the French have a good reason to be condescending to Americans.

Resounding victory for Macron, and a big blow to Trump, who Le Pen openly embraced. Sanity prevails.
