Chelsea is reportedly looking to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen from Serie A champions Napoli in the summer transfer window.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has revealed that the 25-year-old Nigerian wants to join Chelsea and he should be able to secure agreement over personal terms easily. The Blues are prepared to trigger its release clause and they are currently working out payment terms with Napoli.

The current African Player of the Year has scored 13 goals across all competitions and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Chelsea. He helped Napoli win the league title last season, scoring 31 goals in the process. He has firmly established himself as one of the best strikers in Europe and he should prove to be a major upgrade on Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea signed the former La Liga striker to solve their goal-scoring problems but he has been quite underwhelming this season and Chelsea need to bring in an upgrade.

Osimhen should prove to be a superb addition and he could transform them into genuine contenders next caesar.

The player has a release clause in the region of €120-130 million and therefore he is likely to cost a substantial amount of money. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can comply with the financial regulations and afford to pay his release clause. Ideally, the Blues would prefer to pay it in instalments and it remains to be seen whether Napoli is ready to accept such a deal.

Osimhen has been linked with other English clubs as well and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea face any competition for his services.

The Nigerian international deserves to play at the highest level and a move to the Premier League will be an exciting challenge for him. He has the physical and technical attributes to do well in England and a move to Chelsea would allow him to showcase his quality at a high level against world-class defenders.
