Amusan, Camacho-Quinn Renew Rivalry At Ostrava Golden Spike Meet

World Record holder in the 100m women’s hurdles Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan will renew her rivalry with Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico at the Ostrava Golden Spike 2023 athletics meet.

The 62nd edition of the meet takes place in the Czech Republic on Tuesday with the crème de la crème of the world’s athletics talent competing for crucial points and qualification standards for the upcoming World Championships.

Amusan, the world record-holder in the 100-meter hurdles from Nigeria, is a formidable athlete to watch out for. Amusan etched her name in history by setting a world record time of 12.12 seconds in the semifinals of the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.

Continuing her dominance, she clinched the gold medal with a wind-assisted time of 12.06 seconds. With such impressive performances, there is a strong possibility that the Golden Spike record of 12.55 seconds set by Sharika Nelvis in 2015 could face a serious challenge from the Nigerian track sensation.

The women’s 100m hurdles event promises to be thrilling as Amusan will face stiff competition in the form of Jasmine Camacho-Quinn entering as both the reigning champion from last year and the Olympic gold medalist. Camacho-Quinn has maintained an unbeaten streak and currently holds the title of the world leader in the event.

The clash between Amusan and Camacho-Quinn adds an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to the competition, as fans eagerly await to see these two exceptional athletes go head-to-head for glory in the Golden Spike Athletics Meet.
