North Korea Calls Latest Round of Sanctions an “Act of War”

The North Korean regime of Kim Jong-Un called the latest round of UN sanctions against them “an act of war” on Sunday, and said that the countries that voted in favor of the new sanction would pay a heavy price for their vote.

The UN Security Council voted unanimously on Friday to impose harsher sanctions on the increasingly isolated nation in the wake of an intercontinental ballistic missile test North Korea conducted on Nov. 29.  The sanctions cut exports of gasoline and other refined oil products by about 90% and requires any country using North Korean labor to repatriate them within 24 months.

The sanctions come at a time of heightened tension between North Korea and the international community.  Last week Secretary of Defense Gen. Jim Mattis warned that “storm clouds are gathering” over the Korean peninsula while addressing troops at 82nd Airborne Division’s Hall of Heroes in North Carolina.  The international community is seeking an abandonment of its nuclear weapons program by the regime.
