American Centre Grants Access Programme to UGC HRDC for the fifth time

Aligarh: The English Access Micro-scholarship Programme (EAMP) of the American Centre, New Delhi has been sanctioned to the UGC Human Resource Development Centre, Aligarh Muslim University for the years 2016-18. This programme has been sanctioned to AMU for the fifth consecutive phase.Under this programme, which is fully funded by American Centre, at least 200 AMU school children in the age group 12-16 years from underprivileged backgrounds will be given training in English proficiency and personality development. The classes will be held at the Ugc Hrdc, AMU for 120 days in a year during off-school hours.Professor Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director, UGC HRDC, AMU acknowledged the continued patronage of AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) for the successful running of the programme.He said that the Vice Chancellor’s commitment for improving communication and soft skills of AMU school students has been the reason for the running of EAMP in AMU.Professor Kidwai also thanked the team of AMU English teachers, who are involved in imparting the training.“One of the teachers is presently in Turkey, chaperoning seven students from AMU schools participating in the ‘South Asian Access Summer Camp Aug 12 – 24, 2016’. These students are from the various AMU schools and have completed the EAMP 2014-16”: said Prof Kidwai.He added that a fresh batch of students in the age-group of 12-16 will be interviewed on 24 August 2016 to fill in the 200 seats of the new AMU Access 2016-18 programme at the UGC HRDC, AMU.
