Kochi Metro installs plastic recycling machines

Moving towards eco-friendly initiatives, Kochi Metro Rail Limited(KMRL) has installed plastic bottle recycling machines  in selected metro stations.

The machines help in disposing off plastic products which are then recycled in a cost effective manner. Commuters who provide plastic products to these machines are awarded by discount coupons.

South Indian Bank is sponsoring three machines under their  Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.

KMRL is also planning to install such machines in areas where people who are not boarding the trains can also contribute plastic to these machines.

Kochi Metro, which was launched on June 19 this year, has earned more than Rs 1.77 crore in the first week of its operations. More than 66,340 people are using metro on a daily basis.
