Machines to issue tokens at Sewa Kendras

Elets News Network
Chandigarh : Keeping in view the long queues at Suwidha Kendras across the state, the Punjab government has decided to set up touch screen automated machines to issue tokens to residents visiting the centres to avail administrative services.
Ludhiana is among the first of districts where already these automated machines have been set up allowing people to get their tokens by selecting the services from an interface instead of standing in serpentine queues to get a token.
In order to get a token, you just have to select the service from an interface, press the print token, and the machine automatically prints the token. The attendant would then call out the number as per the number mentioned.
The touch screen interface has different tabs such as certificates, pension and schemes, licence and permits, copy of record, Right to Information and grievances and miscellaneous, each of which opens another interface with different certificates, falling under each of these categories.
While the machine is simple to operate yet the sewa kendras would have an attendant and a help desk to guide those who find it daunting. This will ensure that even the most technology shy residents are able to avail of the services.
