ECMI Director visits South Africa

For the very first time, ECMI is invited to speak in South Africa

Although there is a long tradition of academic cooperation between Germany and South Africa, the interest in the ECMI’s work among South African academics and universities has increased in the last decade. We are therefore pleased to announce that ECMI Director Prof. Dr. Tove Hansen Malloy is visiting Pretoria this week (29th October to 1st November).

The mission of her trip is to disseminate information about the European minority rights regime and practical examples of cultural autonomy in Europe. During her stay, she will meet officials from the trade unions Solidariteit (Solidarity) and afriforum, and academic institutions such as the South African Academy for Science and Arts, the Federation of Afrikaans Cultural Organisations and the private Afrikaans university Akademia.

A special highlight of her visit is a radio interview that she will be giving on 31st October  with Pretoria FM (an Afrikaans radio station) at 3.30 pm.

On 1st November, the last day of her journey, she will lecture to to the Afrikaners’ annual meeting “Beraad 2018” on Minority-Majority Relations in Europe.
