Rant: It’s 2017 and everything is still the same (or, how the regressive left got Trump into the White House)

I got inspired, if that’s the right word, to do this rant by reading this miserable entry from the Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy. It is, once again, for about the trillionth time, the usual lamentations and tribulations over how horrible and “difficult” it is to deal with Lovecraft because of his racism, with quotes from, among others, Silvia Moreno-Garcia and Maurice Broaddus.

Speaking generally: one would think, now that the regressive left has managed to get a fascist shitbag like Trump elected president of the United States (see, for example, this, this, and this), that these people would finally take a hint, but no, they are still bleating on endlessly about how terrible it is that a polite, generous, mild-mannered, harmless guy who wrote some stories in what still is and always will be a niche genre, and who died in 1937, also occasionally wrote some racist rants in private letters to close friends and family when he got upset that some old neighbourhoods had changed because of immigration.

There is something I have always wondered about the kind of people who do this. Why can’t they get it through their thick stupid heads that as long as they keep harping on about this and as long as they keep drawing sharp identity politics distinctions between “people of colour” and white people (who presumably have no colour then, which sounds like discrimination to me…) racism will never go away. You can’t make something disappear by constantly bringing it up. And how impossibly weak do you have to be, anyway, to always need to define yourself by a group and not by your own individuality?

Let me make it clear: I am not a conservative. Call me an independent moderate, or whatever, but I am strictly non-political. Yet the last few years have finally brought me to the point where enough is enough as far as I’m concerned with left-wingers and their fucking bullshit. Everyone is walking around slack-jawed in a wide-eyed daze over 2016 and Brexit and Trump, and there’s no end of hand-wringing and weeping and wailing over how on earth this could possibly have happened and IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD!! But it’s very easy to see how all this happened: You brought it on yourselves. And you deserve what’s coming.

This is directed straight at all you SJW retards out there: You are not helping with any of your bullshit. You are not making anything better. You are making everything worse. Just look around at what is happening in the world right now, what more evidence do you need? And for fuck’s sake, learn a little history. Right-wing resurgences are always counter-reactions to the antics of far-left lunacy, this is a pattern that has repeated itself since as far back as the French Revolution. Genuine progress can only be achieved through gradual and moderate reform, but what do we get instead? The late 19th century (when Lovecraft was born) and the early 20th century were marked by a wave of anarchist terrorism in the Western world, this was when modern terrorism began with bombings everywhere (including against civilians); U.S. president William McKinley, French president Sadi Carnot, Spanish prime minister Antonio Canovas del Castillo, and many others were all assassinated by anarchists; in Germany, during the Weimar Republic, communists and socialists were basically competing over who could drive the country into the ground the fastest; while the United States was crawling with Stalinist fellow travellers in the 1930s, all of them in total denial over the almost 50 million people who were killed under Stalin – and what was the upshot of all this? Hitler in Germany, Mussolini in Italy, Franco in Spain, and McCarthyism in the United States after WWII. But of course no one learned anything, and today the only thing people know is that Hitler was evil and that the 1950s was a horrible conservative decade. Then comes the 1960s, with clueless hippes ranting and screaming on the barricades, some going around calling themselves Maoists in total denial, again, over the up to 80 million people who died in China under Mao, and don’t even get me started on the war protesters, with one asshole celebrity after another going to North Vietnam and coming back telling everyone what a paradise it was, and we all know how that turned out for the people in South Vietnam – not to mention what was going on in neighbouring Cambodia, with the Khmer Rouge under Pol Pot and their killing fields (up to 2.5 million dead out of a population of 8 million). This was the 1970s, which also saw militant feminists, black nationalists, and the rest of all that shit, and once again violent leftist terrorism everywhere such as the Weathermen in the U.S., the Red Army Faction in Germany, the Red Brigades in Italy, the First of October in Spain, the Popular Forces in Portugal, 17 November in Greece, with hundreds and hundreds of people assassinated and murdered, and all of this right here in the Western world. What was the upshot this time? Reagan and Thatcher in the 1980s – and once again no one today knows anything about all the left-wing terror and death, all you ever hear about is how evil Reagan and Thatcher were (and no one seems to care at all that a little thing known as the Cold War ended at this time), and how there are “fascists” hiding behind every corner. And so the circus started up again, with multiculturalism since the 1980s, political correctness since the 1990s – and we got eight years of Bush in the United States. And STILL no one learned anything, and so we have identity politics and victim culture and the rabid antics of the Snowflakes on university campuses – and if anyone thought Bush was bad… now we have Trump slouching on his way to the White House, and other far-right populists and their political parties rising everywhere (which is a very worrying development), plus that there’s talk of how Generation Z is likely to be the most conservative since the 1950s. That last bit is understandable, if true, and it would certainly be an improvement since NOTHING could be worse than the fucking Millennials. But it’s really just another turn on this endless shit carousel we are stuck on, and there is no end in sight because it will never end.

So thanks a fucking lot.
