Leviathans: Cosmic horror DLC for Stellaris

If, like me, you’re a fan of both 4X games and Cosmic Horror, then this should be very good news:

Leviathans will be adding “Powerful space entities with mysterious origins and motives” called Guardians, who can lead your space-faring nation to great treasures (or, you know, the ever-hungering maw of an eldritch nightmare). Sunless Sea writer Alexis Kennedy has been doing work for Paradox recently, so it’s highly likely that this is the stuff he’s been working on.

Also this:

While not every single one of these creatures is a gigantic space being, they are all said to have “immense power”. Some might jealously guard territory, and others may simply be unleashed by poking your exploratory nose into places it’s not meant to go. The number of Guardian/Leviathans lurking about in your Stellaris game will depending on how large you set the starting galaxy. A tiny galaxy will have one or two, while a huge one could contain every type of Guardian.

Sunless Sea, by the way, is a notably Lovecraftian game that has gotten great reviews. Kennedy writes about his work on Stellaris here and here. And more info here.
