CCL Holder and Attempted Robber Get Into Shootout in Chicago’s North Side

CHICAGO, IL – A potential robbery in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood escalated into a gunfight early Tuesday morning, with the Intended Victim turning the tables on his assailant.

The incident occurred at around 4:22 a.m. in the 5400 block of North Winthrop Avenue. According to Chicago Police, a 23-year-old man was approached by an individual who emerged from an SUV and demanded his possessions at gunpoint. The intended victim, Legally Armed with a firearm under his Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card and Concealed Carry license, engaged in an exchange of gunfire with the would-be robber.

Fortunately, the intended victim emerged unscathed from this harrowing ordeal. The assailant, whose condition remains unknown, managed to flee the scene in the SUV. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

This incident sheds light on the crucial role that concealed carry can play in personal safety. In situations where law enforcement cannot immediately intervene, legally armed citizens can be their own first line of defense against criminal threats.

The right to carry a concealed weapon, especially in a city like Chicago with a high incidence of gun violence, is a responsibility that requires strict adherence to safety and legal guidelines. In this case, the 23-year-old’s quick thinking and preparedness potentially saved him from harm.
