I received some emails from readers notifying me of the shooting at Francis S. Tucker Elementary School in Village West this morning. I had known about it, of course, it was all over the news - online and on tv. I really don't know what to say about it other than repeating what the local news has said - it was a miracle that no one was hurt. A bullet appearently was found just a few feet from children in the classroom. The school was put on lockdown.
Horrible. Frightening.
Alberto Carvalho, school superintendent was out giving a press conference on site and Commissioner Ken Russell left a meeting to see what it was all about. The cops were there and a show was made of the event. But of course, tomorrow is business as usual.
I'm not going to get into the gun debate here. But something needs to be done. The day before there were shots fired in front of Carol City High School. Kids were lucky there, too, as no one was shot.
