    absorb more culture.

    It resides in the
    secret freezer to keep those
    pesky roommates out.

    Yell from the streets, march
    to and fro, let everyone
    know why we’re angry.

    Pack, trash, shred, file, place
    on shelves, stow in baskets, sweep,
    rearrange, compact.
  44. lower your standards
    Why have the best when
    you can have fourth best? Why try
    for unreachables?
  45. the lone birthday present
    It wasn’t much, but
    it was enough to stave off
    lonely bitterness.
  46. infinite diversity in infinite combinations
    The franchise, in its
    seventh decade, plows ahead
    with more fun and shock.

    We feel a younger
    age than we are. Our spirit
    shines through our wan flesh.

    The youngster puttered
    around the farm, causing the
    chickens to scatter.

    Young’uns running the
    halls, parents in the kitchen,
    Grandma in the den.

    They open their mouths
    like normal kids but emit
    high-decibel booms.

    You can’t come in: We’re
    busy celebrating your
    being kept outside.

    Lots of food and drink,
    a great endless playlist and
    friends and family.

    Easier to text
    the children than shout over
    and over for them.

    This is a haiku
    about the nature. Pine cones
    come from cones of pine.

    Trapped indoors with no
    means of escape. Surviving
    until help arrives.
