Google Developing an Operating System?

There have been internet rumors circulating since Monday of Google releasing an operating system based upon Linux. On January 20, the talk began when Financial Times reported that Google was switching their computers over to Linux based system. Companies use Linux system on their servers because it proves to be more stable and it is a very common practice for companies to switch over. A suite developed by Mark Shuttleworth known as Ubuntu is being worked on by Google, the story stated.
"It's possible Google plans to distribute it to the general public, as a free alternative to Windows," wrote Register writer Ben King.
Ben King, Register writer, states that Google might distribute their software for free as an alternative to the widely used Windows operating system. Google officials were unavailable for comment but they have denied such rumors in past.
