In Gujarat, the Commissioner of Police in Surat, Anupam Singh Gehlot has told media, “In the first week of May, we had arrested a Maulvi Sohail from Surat District. During interrogation, we found information on the entire module he was associated with. From Sohail, we recovered two election cards… He had two birth certificates- one of Surat and the other of Nawapura in Maharashtra. Another accused Shehnaz has been arrested. He used to operate using a phone number from Nepal”.

“After cracking his virtual number we figured out his location in Muzaffarpur, before which he used to stay in Nepal… Using one mobile set, he operated 17 virtual numbers. He even had 42 email IDs. He used all these numbers and email IDs to threaten his targets. He had Nepali citizenship in addition to an Indian Aadhar Card… Another person called Raza has been arrested. He belongs to Nanded in Maharashtra. He immediately destroyed his mobile phone but we were successful in recovering some information and getting help from FSL, we are trying to retrieve data. He used a Pakistan number provided by his handler Dagar…”, he said.
