In a harrowing incident that took place on November 22, 2023, three teenagers, one aged 15 and the other two aged 18, have been detained in Rumonge for the alleged rape of an 18-year-old girl. Disturbingly, the perpetrators recorded the Assault on video, leading to the confiscation of the involved phone by the police.

While the victim receives urgent medical care, the authorities in the Kanyenkoko hill area of Rumonge express condemnation for what they label as an "ignoble act." They earnestly call upon the justice system to administer a punishment that serves as an example, aiming to deter such heinous acts.

Fast forward to November 24, 2023, and the Rumonge Court delivers a resounding message against the two 18-year-old offenders. Each is sentenced to 30 years in Prison, fined 500,000 Fbu, and ordered to pay a compensation of 10,000,000 Fbu. This stern decision follows their conviction for the rape of a girl in Kanyenkoko and the filming of the crime using a mobile phone.

In a separate judgment, the third participant, aged 15, receives a three-year prison sentence and a 500,000 Fbu fine. The court also decrees the sale of the phone used to record the video, with the proceeds to be deposited into the public treasury.
