High-Level Meeting with IMF

One of the highlights of today's news involves the Burundian delegation, headed by the Minister of Finance of Burundi, engaging in a productive meeting with the Director General of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The discussions primarily revolved around the macroeconomic developments, ongoing reforms, and the progress in implementing the IMF program. The parties also explored the challenges and opportunities linked to these initiatives.



The Burundian delegation also engaged in a high-profile meeting with Anna Bjerde, the Director General of Operations at the World Bank Africa. The primary focus of this meeting was to discuss the operations and the portfolio of the World Bank in Burundi. 


Bilateral Cooperation with Somalia


In another political, or rather diplomatic development, fruitful exchanges are getting transpired in the realm of bilateral cooperation between the Minister of Finance of Burundi and their counterpart from the Federal Republic of Somalia. The discussions are aimed at strengthening the economic ties between the two nations, fostering collaboration, and exploring mutual areas of interest.




Furthermore, the Minister of Finances , Audace NIYONZIMA, played a pivotal role in the Ministerial Conference on Fragility and Conflicts, themed "Addressing Fragility and Conflict as a Global Public Good." 


Community Development in Karusi Province



On October 14, 2023, the Vice-President of the Republic, His Excellency Prosper Bazombanza, joined the residents of Karusi Province in a community development endeavor. The project focused on maintaining the road connecting the Shombo and Gihogazi communes. The Vice-President's participation underscored the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure and promoting communal development.


Ministry of Environment and Agriculture's Inspection



Also, on the same date, the Minister of Environment and Agriculture, Ir. Dodiko Prosper, conducted a comprehensive inspection tour of breeding centers in Vugizo, Gatumba Zone, and Maramvya, all located in the Mutimbuzi commune of Bujumbura province. During his visit, Minister Dodiko Prosper expressed his satisfaction with the accomplishments in the field of rabbit farming (cuniculture), emphasizing the strides made in this critical sector.
