President Nguema's visit is not limited to Burundi alone. The General de brigade has been active in promoting Gabon's international relations. Just three days prior to his visit to Burundi, he held discussions with President Paul Kagame of Rwanda at the Presidential Palace, Urugwiro. The talks centered on the historical ties binding Gabon and Rwanda and the desire to intensify cooperation in various crucial areas such as education, commerce, economy, agriculture, and new technologies.

Furthermore, the President of the Transition showcased his commitment to international diplomacy by receiving Mr. Judd Devermont, Special Advisor to President Joe Biden of the United States. Their meeting focused on fortifying the partnership between the United States and Gabon during this period of transition. President Nguema reassured Mr. Devermont of Gabon's dedication to conducting democratic elections in the country at the conclusion of this transitional phase.

In a separate tweet, President Nguema reaffirmed the significance of this visit to Burundi, where he expressed his intent to engage with the Head of State and current President of the East African Community, His Excellence Evariste Ndayishimiye.

It should be remembered that the coup that occured on 30th August brought an end to the 56-year-long rule of the Bongo family over Gabon and was also the eighth successful coup to occur in West and Central Africa since 2020.

This coup d'état occurred in shortly after the announcement that incumbent president Ali Bongo Ondimba had won the general election held on 26 August.
This coup d'etat resulted into the arrest of President Ali Bongo and his government ousted, though he was later released on 8th September.

The engagement with Burundi and other states across the world is indicative of the efforts put forth by the transition government to strengthen Gabon's position on the global stage and as the President of the Transition continues his diplomatic visits, political analysts anticipate positive outcomes of these interactions and the subsequent impact on Gabon's international relations especially by this Junta regime, led by General Oligui Nguema.
