Guide to Philly’s 2023 Christmas Village

Get ready to embrace the holiday spirit as Philadelphia’s Christmas Village returns for 2023. This German Christmas market, a beloved tradition in the city, is back with some exciting new features alongside the familiar gift shops in wooden stalls.

When and Where:

The market opens on November 18 and 19 for a special preview, then runs daily from Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. Operating hours are from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from noon to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. On Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, the market offers extended hours.

Christmas Village will expand to more locations this year, including LOVE Park, City Hall’s Courtyard, and North Broad sections, creating a magical open-air German Christmas market in Center City. Additionally, Dilworth Park will host 40 local vendors as part of the “Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market.”

Traditions and New Additions:

Experience the charm of shopping at numerous stalls, savor traditional German cuisine, and enjoy German beer. For the kids and the young at heart, there’s an illuminated Ferris Wheel, a double-decker carousel, and the Christmas Village Kids Train. Don’t miss the original Christkind from Nuremberg, Germany, who will open the market with a traditional prologue on November 26.

German American Weekend returns with lively German dance bands on December 9 and 10. Visitors can indulge in German Bratwurst while watching traditional performances.

New at the 2023 Christmas Village are authentic European-style lights at LOVE Park and Vegan Wurst Wednesdays, offering mouthwatering Vegan Bratwurst every Wednesday after 5:00 pm.

Plan your visit and explore more exciting offerings by visiting the Christmas Village website.
