Breaking News: Bode Agusto, Pioneer of Nigeria’s First Credit Rating Company, Passes Away

His death was confirmed by Olufemi Awoyemi, founder of Proshare on his X page on Thursday.

He wrote: “Bode Agusto,, the founder of Agusto & co, was the pioneer who taught us all how to respect facts and data in our engagements.

“A great human being and a fabulous teacher you were. Your teachings, delivered with conviction, will always be with all of us, our career paths were impacted by you.

“I pray to Almighty God to give enough strength to his family members to overcome this loss, and may his soul rest in peace.”

Agusto was the founding Managing Director of Agusto & Co. He was a Chartered Accountant and had over three decades of work experience in both the private and public sector.

He was also a non-Executive Director of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), the Shell Nigeria Pension Fund and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Agusto had served as adviser to various companies in Nigeria. He was also a non-Executive Director of Agusto & Co. Ltd and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc.

Bode had a degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos, an Executive Certificate in Strategy & Innovation from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management and was a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

In 2002, former President, Obasanjo invested Agusto as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) for his contributions to the Nigerian economy.
